hey guys,
just passed my theory test earlier in the week, and got to thinking about my practical.
I did my CBT about 3 months ago, and have done probably coming on 1000 miles on my 125 since then, town and country riding. commute to work most days on the bike.
I feel comfortable riding, but I know I dont know everything. you guys reckon I'd be able to do my direct access?? there are a few firms in aberdeen that do 3 day courses (think its day 1: getting used to a big bike, day 2 module 1, day 3 module 2), anyone reckon that would be suitable?? or should I get a bit more experience?
cheers,

I think this is a question only you can answer. Though if it helps, I didnt get alot of experience on a bike before I got my licence through direct access. The real experience in my opinion comes after you pass your test and get in the miles. It could be argued if you get too much experience before you pass your test you could develop silly bad habits due to riding on your own without someon to correct you that may not be so easy to get rid of before you sit your test. Maybe others might disagree with this. At the end of the day its your decision and its what you feel comfortable doing but its very possible for you to go get your licence now.
hope this helps

I know quite a few guys who have sat their tests without any formal training, but thats not a given cos we all learn things at different rates.. I take it the way your question is posed, you have never been on anything bigger than your 125 which to be honest with you, it is a different ride to the likes of a 500.. The school will asses your ability on your 125 before they even let you near a 500, so my suggestion would be for you to have them asses you 1st and then let them tell you what sort of DAS you need to go through.. best of luck on the test when it comes round tho bud |

Go and speak to Right Start Motoring. They are at the barracks(spelling) on the Ellon road. They where very good with Myself and Roddy(oh)
I think you should just go for it, Get some training for the mod 1 and see how you feel.

| Done my direct access with Simon @ Aberdeen Bike School in Bridge of Don. Great guy ,very easy to get on with, lots of banter ,etc that makes you feel at ease. He won't put you on to the test until he knows you're ready. Pass rate is very high. Good luck in whatever you decide mate. |
